After breakfast you drive to Ngorongoro gate and descent into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with picnic lunch) within Ngorongoro Crater the world Heritage site and one of the natural wonders of the world holding a permanent population of more than 30,000 animals. It’s very unique that only very few of those animals migrate in and out of crater with its 2000 ft, high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. The crater is also home of the rare black rhino almost extinct in Tanzania and with a bit of lack and with a bit of luck plus our best guidance and experience you will see the “Big Five” during the game drive and late back to overnight at Bougainvillea safari lodge http://bougainvilleasafarilodge.com
Accommodation: Bed, breakfast Lunch and Dinner
Today you will start in the morning your guide will pick you and we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park which takes about 3,5 hour. The park offers a mosaic of vegetation habitats which can sustain a high density of wildlife. Its ground water forest which acts like a giant filtering sponge which gradually releases water so it can flow gently into streams, instead of running off, prevents the soil from eroding. From its high concentrations of animals such as elephant, buffalo and antelopes to its dense forests of Trichilia spp, ficus spp and Acacia spp, the park is diverse with both wildlife and vegetation. With its location at the base of the east African rift valley along the Gregory rift, it offers spectacular viewing of the escarpment. Lake Manyara is one of those national parks which offer rich and diverse game viewing within a reasonably small area. From its thick ground water forest at the park entrance to its more arid acacia woodland in the south. It is one of the best areas for elephant viewing and close encounters are very common. The bird life here is also exceptional. Because of its thick brush and forested areas, viewing of Big Cats is not so common and late will drive direct to Kilimanjaro airport and arrive there 2 hours before the time to catch your final flight to fly back home .

This trip will take you through:
- Tarangire National Park
- Serengeti National Park
- Ngorongoro Conservation Area (including the Ngorongoro Crater)
The parks visited (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro) offer excellent wildlife viewing year-round. However, the dry season (June to October) is generally considered prime time for safaris as animals congregate around water sources, making them easier to spot. This period also coincides with the Great Migration in the Serengeti, particularly the dramatic river crossings (July to September). Your trip in late July places you perfectly for prime dry season game viewing.
Pack lightweight, comfortable clothing in neutral colors (khaki, green, brown, tan) to blend in with the environment and avoid attracting insects.
- Clothing: Long-sleeved shirts and trousers (for sun/insect protection and cooler evenings), shorts for daytime, a light jacket or fleece for cool mornings/evenings, and comfortable walking shoes/sneakers. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen are essential.
- Essentials: Insect repellent (with DEET), toiletries, personal medications, and a small first-aid kit.
- Electronics: Camera with a good zoom lens, extra batteries/power bank, memory cards, and a universal travel adapter (Tanzania primarily uses Type G and sometimes Type D, though many new places have universal outlets. Voltage is 220V). Binoculars are highly recommended for optimal wildlife viewing.
- Documents: Valid passport (at least 6 months validity), visa, flight tickets, travel insurance details, and vaccination certificates (if required).
Yes, most foreign nationals require a visa. It's highly recommended to obtain an e-Visa online through the official Tanzania Immigration Services website (www.immigration.go.tz) before your travel. While visas on arrival are available for some nationalities, applying in advance saves time and potential hassle.
The official currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). While US Dollars (USD) are widely accepted in tourist areas and for safari payments, it is legally mandated that all domestic transactions must be conducted in TZS. Carry small denominations of TZS for local purchases and tipping. Major credit cards are accepted at most lodges, but a surcharge may apply. ATMs are available in larger towns like Arusha.
Your safety is paramount. Your experienced guide will provide instructions, and it's crucial to follow them:
- Stay in the Vehicle: Always remain inside the safari vehicle unless explicitly instructed by your guide that it's safe to exit at designated areas.
- Maintain Distance: Never approach or feed wildlife. Observe animals from a safe distance.
- Hydration & Sun Protection: Drink plenty of bottled water and use high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
- Malaria: Tanzania is a malaria risk area. Consult your doctor about anti-malarial medication. Use insect repellent, especially during dawn and dusk. Most lodges/camps provide mosquito nets.
- Vaccinations: Consult your doctor or a travel clinic well in advance for recommended vaccinations (e.g., Yellow Fever - if coming from a country with risk of YF transmission, Typhoid, Hepatitis A/B).
- Personal Safety: In cities/towns, be aware of your surroundings and take licensed taxis. Keep valuables secure.
- Tipping: Tipping is customary and appreciated. For your safari guide, a general guideline is $20-35 USD per day from the entire group, or $10-20 USD per person per day if on a group tour. Lodge/camp staff can be tipped collectively via a central tip box.
