A packed lunch will be provided en route, allowing you to enjoy a meal amidst the landscapes.

Upon arrival at Ngaresero Village, you will check in to the Moivaro Lake Natron Tented Camp. Spend the afternoon relaxing and preparing for your overnight climb.

Overnight accommodation at Moivaro Lake Natron Tented Camp.

Meals: Dinner and Breakfast (for the next morning before the climb)

1:00 AM: You will be transported by your driver to the base of Ol Doinyo Lengai, where your challenging ascent begins under the cover of darkness.

The Ascent: Follow your guide closely and maintain a steady pace on the steep and often unstable volcanic slopes. The trek typically takes between 7 to 12 hours to reach the crater rim, depending on your fitness level. Take short breaks approximately every 100 meters of altitude gained to aid acclimatization.

Breakfast Break: A strategic break for a packed breakfast will be taken during the ascent to replenish your energy.

Summit Arrival: Upon reaching the crater's edge (approximately 2,960 meters), you will be rewarded with the awe-inspiring sounds of the active lava within the crater. Witness the unique geological activity and the dramatic landscape unfolding around you as dawn approaches.

Sunrise Views: Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the summit as the sun rises, illuminating Lake Natron, the Rift Valley, the Crater Highlands, and potentially distant Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

The Descent: Begin your descent, taking extra caution on the loose volcanic ash and rocks, as this is often when injuries occur. Switch to a sun hat after sunrise to protect yourself from the increasing heat.

Return to Base: Upon completing your descent, your driver will be waiting to transport you back to the base of the mountain.

Lodge Refreshment or Transfer: You will return to the Moivaro Lake Natron Tented Camp for a refreshing shower and rest. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can opt for a direct transfer to Arusha at this point (please note if this needs to be pre-arranged).
