    Why Lemosho?

Kilimanjaro’s Most Beautiful and Less Crowded Route

The Lemosho Route is widely considered the most scenic and pristine path on Kilimanjaro. Starting from the west, it traverses the stunning Shira Plateau – a massive volcanic caldera – before joining the Machame Route. With lower crowds than Machame and a superior acclimatization profile, Lemosho offers an outstanding success rate of 95% on the 8‑day itinerary.

This route is perfect for those who want a true wilderness experience, spectacular views from day one, and the best possible chance of reaching Uhuru Peak. The 8‑day option includes an extra acclimatization day, making it our top recommendation for first‑time climbers and those who want to maximise their summit odds.

    Wilderness Experience

    Camping on the Shira Plateau

Lemosho is a full camping route, but with a more remote feel than Machame. You’ll sleep in high‑quality 4‑season tents with thick sleeping mats, and our crew sets up a private dining tent for hot meals. The highlight is the Shira Plateau – a vast volcanic caldera at 3,500‑3,800m with incredible views of Kibo and Mount Meru.

Because Lemosho starts from the west, you’ll experience pristine wilderness with far fewer crowds than on Machame or Marangu. The extra day on the 8‑day itinerary allows for a full acclimatization hike on the plateau, setting you up for summit success.

Note: All camping equipment is provided (tents, sleeping mats, dining tent, toilet tent). You only need to bring your personal sleeping bag (can be hired) and daypack.
